While Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli watches the world's young talent at the World Junior Championship, the Boston Herald reports his team is in need of some help.
The Herald claims there are plenty of talented, high-priced players available, however the salary cap plagues a number of teams looking for upgrades and assistance.
The Bruins are approximately $2 million under the current $44 million salary cap and the team might have to trade a roster player in order to bring on a hefty contract.
Boston is currently ninth in the Eastern Conference with 41 points, one point out of a playoff spot.
St. Louis Blues defenseman Eric Brewer is believed to be available. The 28-year-old is making just over $2 million this season. Phoenix Coyotes blueliner Derek Morris ($3.9 million) is also supposedly on the block.

I think the bruins just need team to gel as a team but i see two weak spots on defence and in net.
Zdeno Chara---> is a number one d-man for the bruins, can log big minutes, can also run the power and kill penalty's
Brad Stuart----> is the bruins number two d-man, can also run the power play and kill penalty's
Paul Mara---> boston power player quarter back, looks lost this season, not adjusting to the east?
Jason York--> good third line pairing d-man, too slow for the new NHL
Milan Jurcina & Andrew Alberts are get depth d-man but they are still learning
Boston should go out get two more d-man who can take some minutes of Stuart, Chara and Mara.
Boston should be looking at Vesa Toskala of the sharks to take mins of Thomas, Ilya Bryzgalov of the ducks both can work and both are ready to be starters in NHL.
Hannu Toivonen can not cut in the NHL, i think his ankle problems have ruin his young career so far, lets cross out fingers that he can regin forum in the AHL
Philippe Sauve should not be in the NHL, at best a no 3 goalie
