It may not be a blockbuster move, but getting a quality locker-room presence before the trade deadline may be just what Calgary needs to get over the hump.
ex-Flames Martin Gelinas would fit the bill perfectly. The 36-year-old is playing out the string in Florida and would be an easy pickup for Calgary. Gelinas can walk at the end of the seasonfrom Florida as an unrestricted free agent and doesn't fit into the loing term plans of the team.
While Calgary fans may be dreaming of seeing Gary Roberts or Peter Forsberg in a Flames uniform, neither fit into the Flames' salary structure. Gelinas only makes $975,000, putting the Flames on the hook for roughly $225,000 if he's acquired Feb. 27.

Hockey Guy Notes: The flames are sit they just need one more guy for the dressing to bring a veteran presence and Martin Gelinas would fit that bill.
