This is from TSN Backchecking(http://tsn.ca/fantasy_news/columnists/scott_cullen/?ID=190994)
The Vancouver Province reports that the Oilers' depth at forward, since acquiring Nedved, puts them in a position to deal for a defenceman, with Boston's Brad Stuart at the top of their wishlist. Canucks GM Dave Nonis also tells the paper notes that the Canucks would also like to add a puck-moving defenceman or improve their depth down the middle.
- The Tampa Tribune suggest that the following defencemen could be available, for a Lightning team in need of an upgrade on the blueline: Eric Brewer in St. Louis, Derek Morris in Phoenix, Colorado's Ossi Vaananen and John-Michael Liles and Boston's Brad Stuart or Paul Mara. the paper goes on to say that Dallas' recent run of injuries could have them interested in Lightning forwards Vaclav Prospal or Ruslan Fedotenko in exchange for a defenceman.

- According to the Arlington Heights Daily Herald Times, Blackhawks defencemen Jassen Cullimore, Adrian Aucoin and Jim Vandermeer could be available. The paper also notes that the Blackhawks continue to be mentioned in rumors with Tampa Bay involving center Vaclav Prospal and winger Ruslan Fedotenko.

- The Denver Post chimes in on Lightning trade talk by suggesting that Jose Theodore and Marc Denis could be part of a swap, even a blockbuster that could land Vincent Lecavalier in Colorado. Perhaps wishful thinking, but the goaltenders could each use a new home.

- Injuries to Tim Gleason and Bret Hedican could force the Hurricanes to trade for some defensive depth.

- Wayne Gretzky acknowledged, in the East Valley Tribune, that the Coyotes may be in position to deal a defenceman once Nick Boynton returns from injury, which should be any day now.

- The Bergen Record reports that the Devils have been shopping D Brad Lukowich in order to create roster room for D Richard Matvichuk when he's ready to come off the long-term injured list.
